VEGA Grieshaber was founded in 1959 in the Black Forest town of Schiltach, Germany, by Dipl.-Ing. Martin Fischer. From a small precision-instruments workshop producing capacitance level switches, the company has grown into the world's largest family-owned manufacturer of industrial level, point-level, and pressure measurement instruments. VEGA's annual production exceeds one million sensors, with customers in chemical, water, food, mining, and bulk-solids industries across more than 80 countries.
VEGA's defining innovation is the plics® modular system — introduced in the early 2000s and now in its third generation. With plics®, a single housing can be configured with a radar, ultrasonic, capacitive, or hydrostatic sensor front-end, multiple electronic outputs (4–20 mA HART, Profibus PA, Foundation Fieldbus, Modbus), and a wide choice of process connections. This modularity reduces spare-parts inventory and gives instrument engineers a single platform family to standardize on across the plant.
VEGAPULS 6x Radar Level: The current-generation 80 GHz radar series. VEGAPULS 64 (basic), VEGAPULS 65 (high-temperature), VEGAPULS 66 (encapsulated antenna for aggressive media), VEGAPULS 67 (large bulk solids up to 120 m), VEGAPULS 69 (high-pressure LNG and chemical). The 80 GHz technology delivers ±2 mm accuracy and narrow beam angles ideal for vessels with internal obstructions.
VEGAPULS 31 / 35 Compact Radar: The price-optimized radar sensor family for water and basic process applications. IP66/IP67 housing, HART communication, and Bluetooth commissioning through the VEGA Tools app.
VEGAFLEX Guided Wave Radar: The guided-wave radar family for liquids, interfaces, and bulk solids under harsh process conditions. Models include VEGAFLEX 81 (basic), VEGAFLEX 82 (high temperature/pressure), and VEGAFLEX 86 (coax for low-dielectric media).
VEGACAP Capacitive Switches: Point-level detection for liquids, powders, and bulk solids. Ideal for limit detection where a continuous radar would be over-specified.
VEGA was an early adopter of Bluetooth commissioning in industrial sensors — VEGAPULS sensors and the VEGAMET controllers are all Bluetooth-enabled, allowing wireless configuration through the VEGA Tools app on iOS / Android. The myVEGA cloud portal supports online spare-parts ordering, calibration certificates, and asset documentation.
Glorient is a regular source for VEGA instruments in the European and US process markets. Stock product families include the VEGAPULS 64 / 66 / 69 radar series, the VEGAFLEX 81 / 82 guided-wave sensors, VEGACAP capacitive switches, and VEGAMET 391 signal conditioning units. We provide cross-reference from older VEGA part numbers (VEGAPULS 41, 51, 52, 53) to current VEGAPULS 6x equivalents, and assist with dimension drawings and commissioning documentation.
