| Summary | Vanstone design, per petrochemical industry standards |
| Applications | Oil and gas, petrochemical industry; for high process loads |
| Key Features | Robust design, suitable for typical Shell designs; machined from solid bar, weld-free; design to Shell drawing requirements S38.113 and S38.114 (all versions); design to Shell MESC standards (Materials and Equipment Standards and Codes); lap joint flange to ASME B16.5 |
| Description | The thermowell is an important component of a temperature measuring point. It separates the process from the surrounding area, thereby protecting the environment and operating personnel and preventing corrosive media, high pressures and high flow rates from affecting the temperature probe itself, while also allowing the thermometer to be replaced during operation. Thermowells are used in a wide range of applications and are therefore available in many different types, e.g. with different designs or materials. The type of process connection and the basic manufacturing method also depend on the respective design specification. For example, a fundamental distinction is made between threaded thermowells and welded thermowells, as well as flange-connected versions. Furthermore, welded thermowells differ from solid-drilled thermowells: welded thermowells are machined from tube, with the top of the tube closed by welding, while solid-drilled thermowells are machined from bar stock or forgings. The TW31 series of solid-machined thermowells for lap joint flanges can be used with all WIKA electronic and mechanical thermometers. With their special heavy-load design, these thermowells to Shell design requirements are the first choice for the petrochemical, oil and gas industries. |
