| Product Category | Temperature Measurement |
| Product Type | Thermowells / Protection tubes |
| Summary | Forms 4 and 4F per DIN 43772 |
| Applications | Chemical industry, process technology and plant construction. Suitable for heavy-duty applications |
| Key Features | Design per DIN 43772. TW55-6: Form 4, weld-in type. TW55-7: Form 4F, flanged type. Highly corrosion-resistant coating (TW55-7) |
| Description | The thermowell is an essential component of a temperature measuring point. It separates the measuring process from the surrounding environment, protecting both the environment and operating personnel, and isolating the temperature sensor element from aggressive, high-pressure and high-flow media, allowing the thermometer to be replaced without interrupting the process. Due to the wide range of applications, there are many different types of thermowells, in different designs and materials. The type of process connection and the basic manufacturing method are also based on the respective design specifications. A fundamental distinction, for example, is made between threaded and weld-in thermowells, as well as flanged designs. Furthermore, a distinction is made between welded-stem and barstock thermowells: welded-stem thermowells are manufactured from tubing, with the top of the tube closed by welding, while barstock thermowells are machined from solid bar material. The TW55 series of barstock weld-in thermowells is suitable for use with the complete range of WIKA electronic and mechanical thermometers. Designed for heavy-duty applications, this series complies with DIN 43772 and is suitable for the chemical industry, process technology and plant construction. |
