| Description | A diaphragm seal protects the measuring instrument from damage caused by aggressive, viscous, crystallizing, corrosive, highly viscous, environmentally hazardous or toxic media. A diaphragm made of a suitable material separates the measuring instrument from the process medium. With an appropriate diaphragm seal, the measuring instrument can therefore be used for demanding measuring tasks. The filling liquid inside the system (the liquid can be selected according to the specific application) transmits the pressure hydraulically to the measuring instrument. We offer diaphragm seals in different designs and materials, covering almost all customer application requirements. When selecting a diaphragm seal, the user should pay attention to two important criteria: the type of process connection (flange, thread and aseptic connection) and the basic manufacturing method. The model 990.60 diaphragm seal with NEUMO BioControl ® connection is particularly suitable for aseptic processes. It can be adapted to the process via a NEUMO BioControl ® housing. This enables the hygienic integration of the measuring instrument into the pipe or, via a welded one-piece flange, into tanks or fermentation vessels. The diaphragm seal system withstands the high temperature of the cleaning steam during SIP processes, enabling an aseptic connection between the process medium and the diaphragm seal. The diaphragm seal can be directly mounted to the measuring instrument (standard) or via a cooling element or flexible capillary (optional). In terms of material selection, WIKA offers a wide range of solutions: the upper housing of the diaphragm seal and the diaphragm can be made of the same material. The standard material for these sealing diaphragms is stainless steel 316L (1.4435); of course, we can also supply diaphragms made of other special materials upon customer request.
